Welcome to My Blog

This contains snippets of my journeys from the most mundane to the most exciting. This will contain some reviews as well, mostly of hotels and places visited. At times, this could be filled with gripes and frustrations but in all, it will most likely show how truly fascinating life is from my vantage point. My personal mantra, however troubled or distorted things may seem to most, is rooted from the movie "3 Idiots" - - All is Well. Thus, I am a fervent believer of limitless possibilities. Live well. Cheers!

Genting Grand Hotel, Malaysia

We went to Genting Grand Hotel (formerly Maxim's Hotel) in Malaysia from April 17 to 19, 2014. From Singapore, we took a flight to KL and then from KL, a bus ride of more than two hours to Genting. It was our dad's idea as he wanted to be in a cool atmosphere since Genting is similar to Baguio, only a tad bit cooler. We've been here several years back and my recollection of the place involved howling winds, shady people, and a pretty dirty environment. The howling wind part did not happen in this trip as our room seemed pretty decent although it could have been better maintained (with the dirty air ducts, dusty bathroom and closet, cigarette stains/pock marked furniture and what have you taken care of).
Perhaps the best feature of the hotel room is the good shower head, water supply, and water heating system. I also liked the his and hers sinks. The bed was also soft and fluffy.

We got to visit the amusement center of first world hotel...a couple of elevators down from our hotel.

Inset: My sister and brother-in-law ; My mom and brother pretending to be in a super fast ride when in fact, it is absolutely super slow.
Inset: Stow-away monkey?

Its definitely in need of a face lift and lots of cleaning. There was a monkey rummaging through trash in the indoor amusement park/mall while we were having lunch. Perhaps among the few highlights in this venue is their "Snow World" activity area which is -6 degrees and the bowling alley where my son had a round of bowling.

Well, perhaps things will change once the "21st Century Fox" theme park is in place (in two years, they say). I just hope things will improve here other than just the usual casinos, being one of resort world's gambling hotspots.
